Import and Export Administrator

About the role:

Brightwell Export to over 85 countries worldwide with two subsidiary companies located in the USA and Germany.  The main purpose of the role is to ensure that all export administration for our customer orders are processed in compliance with international shipping regulations in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner. 

Shift Pattern

  • Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00

Key areas of responsibility

  • Prepare and process import/export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures. 
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, airlines, and trucking Companies to arrange transportation of goods. 
  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise. 
  • Communicate with clients, suppliers, (and if required customs officials) to provide updates and resolve any discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions and ensure proper filing of documents. 
  • Assist in the preparation of freight/transport quotes and invoices for clients. 
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and Company policies. 
  • Provide support to the logistics team as needed. 
  • Obtaining Proof of Export/Delivery in a timely manner to comply with HMRC regulations 

Skill set of the role:

Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths, English
  • Thorough knowledge/experience of International Shipping to global markets. 
  • Experience of administering a Central Distribution Warehouse. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Commodity/ Tariff Codes 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Legal obligations, terms Seeking an individual who has experience ideally in import freight forwarding, with the ability to work within an multi role environment & work on other core activities within the export department. 
  • Computer literate – experienced using Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. 
  • Formal training with regards to shipping, terms, requirements 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Good organisational skills 
  • This role will be busy and requires a strong eye for detail and will suit someone who has great organisational skills 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Be able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team. 
  • Working collaboratively with other departments  
  • Good leadership skills
