Project Manager
About the role:
As the driving force behind product development projects, you will ensure delivery within agreed timeframes, budgets, and specifications. This role requires strong collaboration with both internal teams and external customers to meet bespoke requirements and achieve successful new product introductions.
To succeed in this role, you must possess not only exceptional project management skills but also the ability to understand the technical aspects of the product and the critical role of procurement, quality, and manufacturing. You will lead cross-functional teams to ensure that commercial requirements for performance, quality, and cost are met at every stage of the development process, and that products are released right first time.
• Project Leadership: Serve as the source of expertise for project management, guiding internal and external teams and acting independently of the organisational hierarchy to deliver successful projects
• Project Definition: Define project objectives and deliverables in alignment with stakeholder expectations, ensuring clear and actionable plans are established
• Planning and Risk Management: Develop comprehensive project plans, identify risks, allocate resources, and set timelines in collaboration with project teams and sponsors. Proactively mitigate risks with agreed actions and clear ownership
• Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate and facilitate resources across critical functions including procurement, quality, and manufacturing to ensure smooth and predictable delivery of new products
• Customer Collaboration: Work closely with customers to gather unique requirements and ensure that solutions are tailored to their needs while aligning with internal capabilities
• Process Discipline: Promote a consistent, structured approach to project execution, embedding best practices and applying continuous improvement to project processes and the company’s quality management system
• Scope and Change Control: Manage project scope, ensuring that changes to timelines, costs, or deliverables are controlled and communicated through formal change management processes. Escalate issues to senior management when necessary
• Commercial Considerations: Monitor and assess the business case throughout development, including the impact of pricing, supply costs, and manufacturing efficiency to ensure the project remains viable
• Stakeholder Influence: Influence and lead stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring alignment and accountability. Where necessary, act outside the organisational hierarchy to ensure task completion
• Transparency and Reporting: Provide clear, accurate project reporting to project stakeholders, tailoring the level of detail to the audience and ensuring transparency in project progress and performance
• Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned and promote a system of continuous improvement across all aspects of project management
