Job Title: Project Quality Engineer

 About the role:

Working within the project, design and quality teams, the candidate for this hands-on position should excel in a multicultural environment that embraces teamwork, change, risk-based decision making and flexibility. The individual must be willing to make a significant contribution to a multi-disciplined team and provide a pragmatic, hands on approach to fault finding and identifying improvements to bespoke customer design products. The candidate must be self-motivated, confident with excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to act when required.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Own, deliver and maintain the Quality engineering tools (quality plans etc.) of the project deliverables during the project lifecycle
  • Support the technical teams in designing out quality issues
  • Understand and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, technical manuals
  • Support interpretation of risk and test defect monitoring within projects (DFMEA, PFMEA, DVPR)
  • Support, review and monitor performance analysis from test results that detects issues and track root cause actions
  • Troubleshoot in a timely fashion and suggest practical fixes and improvements throughout the project
  • Support and monitor field trials, manage the tracking and analyses of field trial returns to determine root causes and improvements with the project team
  • Work within a matrix structure that supports bespoke Projects Teams with New Product Development (NPD) and the Quality Team for In Market (IM) products and improvements
  • Participate in the supplier selection process and component specification reviews to ensure that purchased items meet specifications
  • Effectively communicate and reinforce business commitment to quality improvement efforts
  • Apply and comply with HSE requirements
  • Seek, introduce, and adopt best practice solutions across the projects
  • Motivate and integrate project teams into all aspects of quality and the benefits
  • Perform duties in accordance with quality, safety and environmental management system requirements and any other requirements needed by the business

  • Qualifications in Quality subjects
  • Experience in engineering environments
  • Experience of working in a matrix structure
  • Exposure to quality and or testing environments
  • Knowledge of electronics within manufacturing
  • Ability to analyse test results to identify failures
  • Fault Trend Analysis
  • Practical and hands on
  • Excellent work accuracy and attention to details
  • Ability to complete tasks against tight deadlines
  • Understanding of product testing methodologies
  • Good IT skills (experience in using Microsoft

  • Manufacturing experience within injection moulding and polymers
  • Understanding of machinery inner workings
  • APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, DVPR

  • AutoCad / Solid works
  • Project management (PRINCE etc.)
  • Six Sigma methodologies
  • Microsoft SharePoint/ERPs
  • Use of quality software (Minitab etc.)
